A large number of applications from 63 universities and 144 municipalities were in the fields of energy efficiency and solar energy in buildings.
Applications for technical assistance services to be provided to 160 institutions within the scope of the Technical Assistance for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Support for the Municipalities and Universities Project (YEVDES) carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey with the financing of the European Union have been completed.
207 institutions, including 63 universities and 144 municipalities, have applied to benefit from trainings in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency, overseas study visits, energy feasibility studies, energy efficiency studies and engineering services

353 applications were made to the project, where the highest number of applications were made in the fields of energy efficiency in buildings and the installation of solar power plants. The institutions that will receive support are determined through a scoring system in which the criteria such as past project experiences in the fields of current energy management practices, energy efficiency and renewable energy, operational and financial capacity, dissemination of project results, energy saving potential, energy density and regional distribution will be evaluated and 160 of 353 projects will be selected and announced on www.yevdes.org in January 2020.
With the YEVDES Project, it is aimed to support the energy efficiency and renewable energy investments of municipalities and universities in line with the principles of EU resource efficiency. In order to create a less energy-intensive and more carbon-free public sector in Turkey, development of energy efficient technologies and increasing renewable energy production in the facilities, buildings and campuses of these institutions is very important. In addition, increasing green energy investments in municipalities and universities will be a facilitating key factor in the public and will increase awareness of renewable energy and energy efficiency issues. The project is implemented by the consortium led by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with a budget of approximately 4.5 million euros and for a period of 30 months.
