Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Trainings for Municipalities and Universities will start on 24
May

Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Trainings to be held for municipality and university personnel
within the scope of YEVDES implemented by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Energy and Natural
Resources with the financing of the European Union will start on 24 May 2021.

In line with the measures related to Covid-19 pandemic, the training program will start online. The first
two groups that will receive training between 24- 30 May and 31 May – 6 June 2021 will participate the
online training. The decision on whether the trainings will be held online or face-to-face between 7 June
and 15 August will be determined according to the course of the pandemic.

A total of 800 administrative, technical, and academic staff from various provinces will be trained for 7
days with the aim of improving the capacities of municipalities and universities in the fields of energy
efficiency and renewable energy. In addition to energy efficiency and renewable energy practices, the
participants will receive trainings regarding the legal framework, sustainable energy financing and
project management cycle.

Within the scope of the training program, training books for different participant groups were prepared
as guidelines by the experts, each of whom has theoretical and practical experience in their fields. The
training books including both theoretical information and the best up to date practices in the field of
renewable energy and energy efficiency can be downloaded from www.yevdes.org .

The main purpose of the YEVDES Project is to support energy efficiency and renewable energy
investments of the municipalities and universities and contribute to the development of energy efficient
technologies and increase renewable energy production in the facilities, buildings of these institutions
and campuses.

It is aimed to increase green energy investments in municipalities and universities, raise public
awareness on renewable energy and energy efficiency issues, and lead the creation of a less energy-
intensive and carbon-free public sector in Turkey.
Within the scope of the project, the following activities are carried out in line with this purpose:

  • Providing trainings on renewable energy and energy efficiency investments for municipalities
    and universities
  • A total of 10 study visits to the EU states
  • Preparation of Energy Audit Reports and Renewable Energy Feasibility Reports for 160 projects
    developed by the municipalities and universities
  • Preparation of procurement documents and providing owner’s engineering support for pilot
    projects
  • Providing R&D support to universities in the in the fields of renewable energy and energy
    efficiency.

YEVDES Project is implemented by Republic of Turkey Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources with the
financing of the European Union; the Contracting Authority is Ministry of Treasury and Finance Central
Finance and Contracting Unit. The Technical Assistance is provided by the consortium led by The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH since 16 April 2019 with the budget of 4.5 million Euros.
